Food and Nutrition Conference & Expo

October 20-23, 2018 in Washington D.C

The annual Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo was held in Washington DC this fall. I was able to hear from speakers who spoke on emerging research in the nutrition field. The expo center was filled with products from start-up companies and well-established corporations alike. It was a time to network and try products that I had not encountered before!

UMCP Joint Class Day

The University of Maryland Dietetic Internship hosted a joint class day for other internships in the area. The day's focus was on technology and informatics in dietetic practice.

In April, I attended the annual DCMAND meeting to learn about diversity in dietetics, intuitive eating, sustainability, and many other topics emerging in dietetics.

Vegetarian Resource Group

The Vegetarian Resource Group provides evidence-based materials for practitioners to distribute to clients who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. We shared a vegan potluck and I made black bean brownies. Chalk full and protein and full of flavor!

Terp Farm Festival

What is better than being outside and talking about sustainable farming? I had a great time interacting with students from the University of Maryland and help promote all of the great efforts going on at the Terp Farm. After the event, I enjoyed a farm fresh meal prepared in the dining hall. Thank you UMD Dining Services!
